Have you all seen the newest Bloomberg/Everytown ad?

Seems to me it portrays women as helpless victims.

Even the women on ABC have more brains (except Lara Spencer).

3 out of 4 ain't bad...

Well, you've certainly got your talking points down.

We don't care if people have guns. We want RESPONSIBLE gun ownership. That means you don't need an assault weapon or a gun with a 30-round clip.

That means we want background checks to make sure you're not a criminal or have mental issues.

That means we want to close the gunshow loopholes.

That means taking guns away from people who have restraining orders.

But people like you have a one-track mind. Obummer wants to take all your guns away from you.

What's an "assault weapon"? It's a term conjured up by Josh Sugarmann in the late '80s http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Sugarmann that means nil.

Maybe I don't "need" a 30-round clip (sic). Rather, maybe I don't "need" a 30-round magazine. Maybe I don't "need" an automotive vehicle that can go faster than the highest Federal speed limit, but there are millions of these vehicles on the U.S. highways. Annually, the death body count from vehicle "accidents" is always higher than all firearms deaths, whether homicide, suicide, or "accidental".

Your argument for background checks for firearms purchases only works for law-abiding citizens, who know they will pass the test. Even if a felon or an adjudicated mental-health citizen were to be stupid enough to attempt a background check, the FBI normally doesn't even respond to such applications (unless a huge red flag goes up) and the applicant can receive the firearm from the dealer if no FBI response to the FFL holder (seller) after 5 business days. I bought a handgun frame (serial numbered firearm part: hence, "the gun" according to BATFE) from an FFL holder and the FBI never responded to the background check.

No such background checks are required or performed during the sale of a vehicle.

The Great Gun Show "Loophole" is a farce. Straw buyers have been around at least since Christ was a Zealot. What you, in your Proud Liberal mindset, should be advocating is passage Of I-594 http://wagunresponsibility.org/about-594/ . Please read through the entire, poorly-written initiative. Among the many things this initiative changes is "transfer" of a firearm from one person to another, to include allowing another person to use your firearm during informal target practice as illegal. (Reading and comprehension, sir.) The amount of taxpayer money to set up a registration system required by this initiative would be astronomical, not to mention unconstitutional as written.

I believe you are well versed in WA State law. Are you saying that people with restraining orders against them are allowed to possess firearms? I don't know.

Lastly, your inference that I have a one-track mind is offensive on its face. Obummer (your name-calling reference to Barack) and his cronies Immanuel (never let a good crisis go to waste), Schumer (part author of the 1994 AWB), Feinstein (her list of "assault weapons"), 3Wr3HVgl.jpg

Holder (Fast And Furious), et al, would prefer to ban private ownership of ALL firearms by private U.S. citizens, all the while allowing public and/or private funding of armed security to protect themselves. Quite an oxymoron.

G'day!
